Boy Scout Sunday February 9

Boy Scout Sunday will be Sunday, February 9, during both services. The Men of Cedar Cross have made a commitment to make Scouting an important focus of our ministry.  This will be a memorable day for Troop 221 and Pack 21, two units we sponsor and the boys from other packs and troops in our community, who attend Cedar Cross.  It will also be a special day of recognition for parents, some of whom attend Cedar Cross and some of whom may be searching for a faith community.

Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, have been invited to participate in various parts of the service; Scouts will serve as greeters, ushers, candle lighters and Scripture Readers.

Cedar Cross serves as a Charter Organization by sponsoring Boy Scout Troop 221 and Cub Scout Pack 21.  Below are the responsibilities of Cedar Cross as a BSA Charter Organization:

  • Providing the Scouting program as an integral part of its program for youth and families
  • Ensuring that the Scouting program is conducted according to the policies and regulations of the organization and the Boy Scouts of America
  • Selecting a chartered organization representative to serve as liaison with the pack
  • Appointing a unit committee
  • Providing adequate and safe facilities for unit meetings
  • Providing opportunities for boys to recognize responsibility to God, to country, to other people, and to self
  • Cooperating with the council in fund-raising through Friends of Scouting (FOS) and the United Way so the Scouting program can operate.
  • Boy Scout Sunday
