20 Cedar Cross youth attend UMC youth event

Twenty Cedar Cross youth attended CONVO, the biggest and most exciting youth event in the Pacific Northwest Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. This year’s event was held on the campus of the University of Puget Sound at Tacoma over the Memorial Day weekend. Hundreds of Youth (grades 6-12) and adult youth workers gathered for three days of music, prayer, fun, learning and growth. CONVO is all about deep talks, fun games, and making new friends – a great way for youth to renew their relationship with God and learn more about the church.

This year’s theme was Do, Love, Walk: exploring how to better understand the call of Micah 6:8. Among the topics discussed:

  • How do you give a voice to the voiceless, even when it’s difficult?
  • How do you have compassion for everyone, especially those who are hurting?
  • How do you live your life in a way that allows God to make you the best expression of yourself, not for yourself, but so you can make change in the world?

The Bishop’s CONVOcation for High School students was first held in the Pacific Northwest Conference in 1976. CONVO 2015 was the 40th installment in a long line of largely successful events!
