Monthly Meal Program for Interfaith Family Shelter
This program is scheduled for the third Monday of every month. Members and friends of Cedar Cross carpool to Interfaith family shelter in Everett and prepare a hot dinner for the families living at the shelter. We leave the church around 4:30 and return around 7pm. Drivers and donations are always welcome.
Deaconess Children’s Services
Cedar Cross has helped by adopting young families. Money, household goods, food and clothing are donated to families until they are able to help themselves. The church has given part of the money from our church to Deaconess Children’s Services to help with their many other projects.
Everett Food Bank
Non-perishable food items are collected in the Safeway shopping cart in the hallway. The items are taken to the Volunteers of America Food Bank. There is a list of needed items in the church office.
Men’s and Women’s Gospel Mission Shelter
The bottom shelf of the Safeway shopping cart in the hallway is used to collect toiletry items for the shelter. Tooth brushes, toothpaste, deodorant and baby toiletries are much needed items. They can especially use the sample size bottles (hotel and cruise size). No clothing please.
N Koune Methodist Church. Meru, Kenya Africa
Our sister church, N Koune, has been trying to build a new church. The new church will replace a small, unlighted, wooden church. Cedar Cross has sent money from our annual auction to help them with their building project. A group of 9 persons from Cedar Cross went to Meru in June, 1999 on a mission trip. We helped pour cement for the pillars and alter the floor of the new church. The $3,500 we took from the Auction helped them build the church up to the roof after we left. The church is almost completed now. The N Koune members are such happy, friendly, proud people and they are so grateful for the help from Cedar Cross.
Special Donation Drives
These drives are held when there is a special need to help some part of the world. The need is usually caused when an area has been devastated by a natural disaster such as floods, earthquakes, hurricanes, etc. The drives may be for food, clothing, blankets or money.
